For most any workgroup that needs access to the printer able to handle complex print jobs speedily and with little drama, it’ll be hard to find any other printer at this price range that could do any better, and probably would do worse.

In all, the 4005n looks to have been created by Hewlett-Packard to kick out the highest number of copies possible in the shortest amount of time reasonable. From the time the printer is tasked with its print job until the time that the first sheet emerges is only about 12 seconds and each sheet will come out looking more than fine at 600 dots per inch print resolution.

The machine is sure to please most any IT specialist with its easygoing nature, as well. It can be joined up to a new or existing work team’s router/server hardware via means of either a USB or an Ethernet 10/100 port. A full 128 MB of random access memory (RAM) is already included with the printer and that can be upgraded to 512 MB fairly quickly. An included 533 MHz processor is also on board, handling all print tasks with ease and which is always making sure that all print jobs are shaped up and then shipped out fairly quickly.

The 4005n has been designed to be able to handle around 600 sheets of paper, with up to 1100 of storage available when all optional and standard paper trays are used. The variety of paper and other media materials that can be handled is excellent, with envelopes, transparencies, labels and even high-gloss paper taken care of with ease.

Hewlett-Packard rates the monthly duty cycle with the 4005n to be as high as 80,000 pages per month. This means that it will be an exceptionally durable printer, especially given its relatively low cost. With higher duty cycles, there is little need for much maintenance. HP advises that between 3000 and 7000 pages per month be the standard before a very minor amount of maintenance be done.
